You'll like em! GUESS WHAT? They say, "Money is the root of all evil." I can't believe that! Money keeps our Accordion Club going. Our Accordion Club is not evil! In fact, Thanks to you all, it is beautiful! Now the GUESS WHAT? It is time to renew your membership for 2025. We need each and everyone of you to continue to support the accordion. Please don't let us down. The individual fee for one year is only $20 and a lifetime is only at the moderate total of $300. Better yet, do you have or know of any potential new members? We need them too! A sincere THANK YOU to those members and friends who supported the OAC Christmas Party on December 8. A great time was had by all and yes, we did raise some money for the students to attend the NAA convention in March. The amount is still being tabulated and the total will follow later. Without your support, we cannot continue. Again, thank you. CURRENT NEWS: Once again, the Bohemian Knights will be performing at the Royal Bavaria Restaurant every Friday and Saturday in January from 5:00 to 9:00PM. This is your chance to hear great live music. The Royal Bavaria Restaurant is located at 3401 South Sooner Road, Moore, OK. They serve an excellent German cuisine plus home-brewed beer. What could be better? Good food, good beer, and good ethnic music. This is an annual event at the Restaurant and if you plan to attend, reservations are required. Don't leave home without them. A Sad Note: On Christmas eve, Elijah Clements, a talented and creative young accordionist, lost his life in an automobile accident. He was part of a new generation of accordionists, and the accordion world will certainly miss his contributions. Rest in Peace, Elijah. We now know where you SQUEEZIN. START PLANNING: I have a great plan for you. Next March 13 through 15 in Lewisville, TX, the National Accordion Association will hold its annual Convention at the Hilton Garden Inn. This is your opportunity to enjoy some of the best accordion performances close to home. In addition, the NAA will initiate a collaboration invitation and request other musicians who play string, reed, and brass instruments to join in the convention. This will be a tremendous leap forward to all instruments playing all music. You can also participate in the program. There will be jam sessions, an adult FUN Band plus other chances to play for your old and new friends. Consider this something to do in 2025. If you are not familiar with the program, give me a note and I will get you started. Incidentally, for those who plan to play in the FUN Band, the music arrangements will be available this month on the NAA website. ALBUQUERQUE ACCORDION EXTRAVAGANZA and BAND CAMP is scheduled from May 14 to 18, 2025, at the Hyatt Place Albuquerque Airport in Albuquerque, NM. There are special room rates for those who attend, and you can also pick your desired dates. This event will host Zoom meetings prior to the event that will help you to play the required music. You must register prior to the meeting to obtain both the Zoom meetings schedule and music. Registrations are open until March 15, 2025. This event will cost $269 per person. For all registrations and additional information please go to kdcstudios@. As future events happen, hopefully we will see them in advance, so you can make plans to attend. Meeting minutes
Meeting minutes · Wednesday, January 1, 2025
The Oklahoma Accordion Club held its Christmas party/meeting on Sunday, December 8, 2024. Some members came early to set up tables for the auction. VP/Treasurer Ron Shearon sold auction tickets. aggie Abel called the meeting to order at 3:35 PM. There were fourteen members and eight guests present. Ron led us in The Pledge of Allegiance. Janet Haskin began the festivities with two seasonal songs: "Up On The House Top" and "Carol of The Bells." Diego Rendon, a guest, played several traditional Mexican songs on his button box. He plays by ear. Ron played "Silent Night" (using low basses) on his large accordion. Dick Albreski and two of his students entertained us next. Aedon Keeley played "Heile Heilo" and "Love Me Tender." Asher Elliott performed "Autumn Breezes" by Frosini. Dick was playing his 48-bass accordion today. He said it's easier on his back. We enjoyed hearing more Christmas music: "Santa Claus Is Jack Schillo Jan 4 Barbara Yuill Jan 12 Cassi Radicelli Jan 15 Tom Phillips Jan 19 Coming To Town," "Feliz Navidad" (Dick's arrangement), "The Merry Christmas Polka," and "White Christmas." Then it was singalong time! Anne Lopez and Lois Roth provided music for "Silver Bells," "Jingle Bells," "Silent Night," and "O Christmas Tree." Cassi Radicelli (Anne's mom) played the bells for "Jingle Bells." Anne and Lois performed "Jingle Bell Rock," "White Christmas," and "Winter Wonderland." The grand finale to the party was the auction. An assortment of items was arranged on tables, and there were many happy winners. The proceeds will be used to assist our youth group. Many thanks to Karen West and her helpers for taking care of the refreshments. The meeting was adjourned. Several players enjoyed a jam session while the clean-up group worked. Our first meeting of 2025 will be Sunday, January 12, at 3:30 PM. Join us for music, snacks, and a good time! Respectfully submitted, Lois Roth, OAC Secretary It's Cassi's 100th! 8 January 2025 73720 Oklahoma Accordion Club Membership & Renewal Form Make checks payable to: Oklahoma Accordion Club Mail your membership dues to:Oklahoma Accordion Club c/o 209 South 2°; Bison, OK Name.
