Let's celebrate love musically this Sunday, February 8 at 3:30 PM. Snacks welcome — bring your accordion or come as you are.

If you can't attend the 3:30 PM meetup in person, you can experience some of it via Zoom - using the same codes (see red type below) you may have used in previous years. Zoom's musical sound quality has recently improved! So feel free to tune us in!

Hey, you there! You on the other side of the bellows! Here's a request I read today online from a lady who wrote (my paraphrase), "I'm a senior accustomed to playing the piano. I would love to try playing an accordion, but need advice on what to buy." Others had already recommended to her a variety of types of accordion, but I asked our club's founder Dick what would be good advice for this willing gal. He said, "First, you don't buy an accordion, you rent one with the option to buy. Second, you must have professional guidance so you do not develop bad habits." Along that line, note that Dick plays Friday and Saturday nights this weekend at Royal Bavarian Restaurant in Moore. And we'll spend time with Dick during the Ides of March at the National Accordion Conference in Forney (Dallas area), Texas. We're on the right track. Let's enjoy our progress! Plan to "Stick with Dick!" We said "Aloha" to Hawaii at the last meeting. This week we head toward the February 8 "Love-Love-Love" themed meeting! And what can do justice to love better than a romantic song on the accordion?!!! — Maggie
Mark those calendars! — Dick Albreski

Meeting minutes
Hawaiian theme · Sunday, January 11, 2026
Fourteen members and twelve guests attended.
OAC held its first meeting of the year on Sunday, January 11, 2026. The theme was Hawaiian. Vice President Ron Shearon led us in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance and we sang "America the Beautiful." In keeping with the Hawaiian theme, grass skirts and colorful leis were provided to attendees. A banner depicting beach sandals decorated the wardrobe table. The singalong generated by Anne Lopez and Lois Roth included "Auld Lang Syne" and "Tiny Bubbles." Guest Patsy Clymer from the Will Rogers Senior Center's Hawaiian Class demonstrated and taught several accordionist ladies the Hula, while Patsy's husband John Clymer played "The Hukilau" on his ukelele. Patsy was accompanied by a number of her classmates in tropical garb. Ron delighted member Susan Hause by announcing her as the winner of the raffled Princetti accordion, which he put immediately into her keeping. The snack table was handled by Karen West. There was the inevitable jamming after the meeting! We'll meet next on Sunday, February 8, at 3:30 PM. The theme is L-O-V-E — that's "Love!"
Performers: Anne Lopez, Lois Roth, John Warren, Maggie Abel, Shayla Chavis-Smith, John Clymer
