!The Oklahoma Squeezins! March 2011! Page 3 Oklahoma Accordion Club February 2011 Meeting Minutes Our Valentine meeting was held on Sunday, February 9. liver Delaney presided. There were 21 members present, and one guest, Ray Luth, brought by Bob Mansfield. •The outgoing officers were recognized and thanked for their work. •The minutes of the January meeting were approved as presented. •The January treasurer's report was approved as presented. •The librarian reported that the website is in upand-running. •The club has gained three new members: Win and Meredith Blevins, and Maryhelen Hagge. •Dan Orza announced that the orchestra played for a Mustang Heights Baptist Church party on February 11. He said that orchestra appearances help with club publicity, as does the monthly calendar of events. •Phil Scibelli proposed giving more structure to each meeting with a written schedule and a signin board for performers. •Oliver Delaney suggested ways to energize and enlarge the club, including: - Encourage members to bring guests to the meetings. - Have a special event meeting this summer. - Plan a trip to Tulsa to meet with the Tulsa group. - Create a theme for each meeting -- a holiday, when appropriate. - Plan each meeting in more detail, and shorten the meeting time, if possible. •New business cards will be printed for the club. •We thanked Ann Lopez for sending birthday cards to members. Ann asked us to tell her about any member who should have a get well or other type of card sent to him or her. •We sang “Happy Birthday” to Margaret Oldham, and we all enjoyed the cake she brought. •We were informed that the Cowboy Hall of Fame has a stage for performances. •Bob Mansfield reminded us that board meetings are open to all members. •Then it was music time! - The orchestra played several Valentine songs including "Because of You, " "That's Amore," and "People Will Say We're In Love." - Roland Lohmann serenaded us with "Se Magnifica" (ooh-la-la!) and "Bella Notte." - Bob Mansfield and new member, Win Blevins, played Offenbach's “Barcarolle.” - Bob performed "Sabor a Mi” and "Besame Mucho." Then he switched from accordion to button box and played an original composition, "Blue Bottom Button." - For the finale, Dick Albreski played "Lover," "Granada," and "Bella Notte." Our next meeting will be on Sunday, March 20. This is a week later than usual because of the Big Event in Dallas. There will be a bellows shake workshop given by Dan Orza.
