!! September 2012! The Oklahoma Squeezins OAC Meeting August 12, 2012 ick Albreski called the meeting to order. •Steve Scott was presented with his membership badge. Welcome to the Club, Steve! There are now 64 members on the roster. •Dick announced that our next meeting, September 9, would be a celebration of Septemberfest with German music. The menu will also be very German -- everything from brats to Strudel. Each member may bring a guest. Dick and Evie must know how many will attend, so a sign-up sheet was passed around at today's meeting. •Two youth players, Isaac Elliott and Tim Granger, will perform at the September meeting. This is their very first recital, so let's welcome them with a large group of OAC members. •Roland Lohmann is going to open a new candy store in Norman. The grand opening is scheduled for late October. Nick Ballarini from Dallas will be there, and he will also hold a fun accordion class at another location in Norman during that time. If you are interested in attending the Ballarini workshop, please advise either Lois Roth or Dick and Evie Albreski. Time and place will be determined once we know how many members are interested. Available times are Thursday afternoon or Friday morning. •Dick began the music with three German songs. Copies were available for whoever wants to practice them for the next jam session. The songs are "Das Kufsteiner Lied Walzer," "Der Troye Husar/Oh Susanna," and "Edelweiss." Dick also played "La Paloma" -- he said it's a popular request at German celebrations. •Dick will be performing at the Chapel Creek Winery September 8 and 9 from noon until 2:00 pm. •Maggie Abel and Steve Scott played a duet called "Batter Up Waltz." •Frankie and Eleanor Martinez performed "Desvelado," "La Media Naranja," and "Gavilan Polliro," with vocals by Frankie. They will be entertaining at an ice cream social in Spencer on August 25, from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. •Anne Lopez and Dick, along with Barbara Duer playing her banjo, treated us to a lively "Pizza Medley," followed by "The Third Man Theme." •Dick performed a medley of songs from many countries, and a waltz medley that included "Fascination." •Roland sang a fun song, "Squeeze Me," accompanied by Dick on accordion. •Dan Orza, Karen West, and Lois Roth concluded the music with "Love Me Tender" (sung by Maggie Abel), "School Days," "Tennessee Waltz," and "Washington Post March."
