The Oklahoma Squeezins January Meeting Lois Roth for Maggie Abel Minutes of OAC Meeting January 13, 2013 The band began the New Year gathering by playing “Heart and Soul” and “Auld Lang Syne.” The meeting was called to order by ick Albreski. There were twelve members present. • Dick announced our new officers: Maggie Abel, Secretary; Barbara Duer, Historian; and Milo Shedeck, Treasurer. • Our next meeting will be February 10, and will have a Valentine theme. The Youth Group will perform, and a few of the Fun Band members will play the music that is being prepared for the National Accordion Association Convention. • The convention takes place the same weekend as the OAC March meeting. The board will decide how to handle this, and will announce a decision at or before the February meeting. • At the convention, Dan Orza will present a workshop on conducting. • The NAA Convention schedule includes the Fun Band on Thursday evening, Polka Night on Friday, the Youth Group performance on Saturday afternoon, and on Saturday night a banquet followed by a performance by the Club’s old friend, Tony Lovello. • Dick suggested that we take a look at accordionist Richard Noel on YouTube. • After the business meeting, Bob Mansfield performed three songs: “La Cubana Mysterioso,” “Samba Italiano,” and “Domino.” • The band trio played “The Tennessee Waltz” in memory of Patti Page. They concluded with “Let Me Call You Sweetheart” and “Missouri Waltz.” Our next meeting will be on Sunday, February 10. Come and listen to love songs!
