The Oklahoma Squeezins February Meeting Maggie Abel Oklahoma Accordion Club February 10, 2013 Club Meeting Minutes Attendance: 26 members • Maggie Abel • Steve Scott • Lois Roth • Diana Richard • Karen West • Dan Orza • John Buchanan • Evie Albreski • Dick Albreski • Milo Shedeck • Lucy Shedeck • Magdalena Brantley • Barbara Duer • Donna Dove • Bill Dove • Renato • Anne Lopez • Sil Lopez • Timothy Granger • Job Elliott • Isaac Elliott • Rebecca Smith • Bria Smith • Maddie Smith • Billy Henson • Beth Henson • Frances Engel Dan Orza directed The Accordionaires, the Oklahoma Accordion Club’s band, which played three songs: • “My Funny Valentine” • “When the Saints Go Marching In” • “The Accordion Waltz,” written by Dick Albreski and performed as a Valentine surprise for him. Members playing were John Buchanan, Lois Roth, Karen West, Maggie Abel, and Dan Orza. Dick Albreski directed The Fun Band, soon to perform at the National Accordion Convention in March. The Fun Band members present were: John Buchanan, Lois Roth, Karen West, Barbara Duer, and Beth Henson. They played: • “Schneewaltzer” • A medley of “Deep in the Heart of Texas” and “Cotton-Eyed Joe” • “Just Because” • A gospel medley of “Old Time Religion” and “I'll Fly Away” • “The Dill Pickle Rag” • “My Angel” (dedicated to Arlene Faulkner) Bob Mansfield played: • “All My Love” • “B-minor Bulgar” • “Oh, My Dearest Love” The Youth Band played last (after returning from basketball). Members present were: Job Elliot, Isaac Elliott, Timothy Granger, Rebecca Smith, Bria Smith, and Maddie Smith. They played: • “This is Our Song for You” • “The Polish Polka Medley” • “The Accordion March” Job Elliot played the last song in book 6, “El Relicario.” Then Dick Albreski joined him in playing Rossini's “Hot Points.” A jam session closed out the meeting. Participating and/or directing were: Lois Roth, John Buchanan, Karen West, Steve Scott, Anne Lopez, Maggie Abel (not sure if this list is complete). The next meeting will be held on the third Sunday of March, because many will be in Dallas on the second Sunday.
