Meeting January 12, 2014 ! Past ick Albreski called the meeting to order. ! • Dick said there was an 80-bass Pollina accordion for sale and anyone interested should try it out. ! • He introduced the new club officers: arbara Duer, Vice President Tom Phillips, and Historian/Librarian Karen West. ! • Officers in place for one more year are Secretary Maggie Abel and Treasurer Milo Shedeck. ! • Then Dick turned the meeting over to Barbara Duer. She told us she loves the Club, and wants to keep it moving forward. She listed the plans for 2014 as discussed by the Board. Important events will be a pizza party in April, a concert in August, German Septemberfest, and a Christmas Cookie Party in December. ! • Jim Whitten, a new club member, received his membership badge. We also greeted a guest, Floyd Thornton. ! • The National Accordion Association Convention will be March 6, 7, 8, and 9 in Plano, Texas. The Southfork Hotel is the new location. Seven of our young students plan to attend the convention. ! • The music began with performances by some of the youth group. - Job Elliott played "Florette" by P. Frosini - Tim Granger soloed with "Yesterday" - Job and Dick performed "Bel Viso" by P. Frosini - Isaac Elliott played "Barbara Polka" - Laz Elliott played "This Is Our Song For You" ! • We took time out from the music session to buy and distribute raffle tickets. There were many fine prizes ready to be taken home by the lucky winners. ! • During the meeting, we all enjoyed the cookies and other refreshments brought by our members. ! • On with the music! - Tom Phillips performed "All Through The Night" - Anne Lopez performed "Habañera," followed by "Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White" - John Buchanan and Dick played "Route 66" and "Christmas Medley Polka" - Floyd Thornton played "The Salvation Medley" - Barbara Duer performed an Israeli version of "Jingle Bells " played in a minor key - Barbara and Dick played two duets: a Klezmer song and "Nobel Franz" ! • The music continued while the winning raffle tickets were drawn: - The Accordionaires (Dan Orza, Karen West, John Buchanan, and Lois Roth) were joined by Janet Haskin, Barbara Mahar, and Annette Zongker. They performed "White Christmas," "Winter Wonderland," and "Merry Christmas Overture." They closed the meeting with the traditional "Auld Lang Syne." ! Our next meeting will be Sunday, February 9. Let's get together and celebrate with some Valentine music! !
