There were nineteen members and three guests attending.
Meeting November 8, 2015 arbara Duer called the meeting to order. • Barbara made the following announcements: ⇒The next meeting will be our Christmas party. There will be special performances by the Youth group and by Lou Le Brun. ⇒Club members are asked to bring new or gently used winter clothing accessories (hats, gloves, socks, etc.) to be donated to the needy. ⇒Members are also asked to bring items for our traditional raffle/auction. Proceeds will be used to help pay for the Youth Group's convention expenses next March. ⇒All members are encouraged to bring cookies or other Christmas treats for refreshments to share. • Nominations were held for four officer positions. Nominated were Barbara Duer for president, Dan Orza for vice president, Maggie Abel for secretary, and Karen West for historian. Elections will be held at the December meeting. • Barbara said she would like to plan performances a month ahead so that each meeting will have plenty of music. • Karen is creating a book of the Club's 2015 events. • Dick Albreski suggested that we need new people to be officers. • Barbara Duer praised the officers for the work they have done and are doing. • Tom Phillips auctioned off two used accordions. Bob Mansfield and Jim Woolly purchased them. • Sil Lopez introduced two guests, Kathy and Shelby Matherly. They live in Edmond. • Then it was time for music! Barbara Duer told us about Guido Deiro. She has a book of his compositions and will make copies of any songs that we may want to try. She and Dick opened the program with three selections from the book: "Deiro's Rag," "Jewel Waltz," and "March." "Deiro's Rag" is the original "Sharpshooters March." • Dick played "Minnie's Borcht" by Louise Goldberg. • Dan Orza performed "Sharpshooters March." • Anne Lopez played "Lost Hope Waltz," followed by a fine arrangement of "Blue Moon" (her theme song). • Bob Mansfield treated us to "P. H. Rumba" by Palmer-Hughes, and "Blue Panther" --- a "takeoff" on the Pink Panther theme --- composed by Bob and The Sisters At Play. • The program concluded with The Accordionaires performing a medley of patriotic songs that included "God Bless America," "The Battle Hymn of the Republic," and "You're A Grand Old Flag." The players were Dan Orza, Karen West, Barbara Duer, and Lois Roth. Our next meeting is scheduled for Sunday, December 13. Come and enjoy the party! There will be food, fun, and Christmas music.
