Page 4 January 2016 The Oklahoma Squeezins Oklahoma Accordion Club December 13, 2015 Christmas Party Meeting The last meeting of the year was attended by 30 Club members and 7 guests. • When the meeting opened, items donated by members for the annual raffle and auction were displayed on tables. Christmas treats were available nearby. • The first order of business was to distribute ballots for members to vote for the 2016 slate of officers. • While ballots were being counted, Past ick Albreski directed the Youth Band, represented by Jobe Elliott, Isaac Elliot, Matthew Medley, Maddie Smith, Brianna Smith, and Becca Smith. ⇒ They played “My Song For You.” ⇒ Isaac played “Autumn Breezes” by Frosini ⇒ Jobe played “March of the Toys” by Herbert ⇒ Dick and Matthew played “A Little Waltz” ⇒ The full youth group closed with “Reginela Capanara.” • Dick and Mike Clark played “Viva L’Amour.” Then, Dick and Toni Paulding (Matthew’s grandmother) played “White Christmas.” • Dick and Chuck Vodicka played the “Julida Polka.” • The Accordionaires (Dan Orza directing Lois Roth, Karen West, and Maggie Abel) were joined by members of the Tulsa group (Annette Zongker, Irene Bookbinder, Janet Haskin, Barbara Mahar), and Lou LeBron from Missouri. Together they played “Christmas Overture” (a medley including “Jingle Bells,” “Come All Ye Faithful,” and “Silent Night.”) A video of this medley is posted on the Oklahoma Accordion Club’s Facebook page. • The group followed this overture with versions of “White Christmas,” “Winter Wonderland,” and “Blue Christmas.” • Vice om Phillips and his helper, Isaac, drew winning tickets for raffle items periodically throughout the program. • Lois, Anne Lopez, and Barbara Duer played sing-along tunes: “Jingle Bells,” “Silver Bells,” and “Joy to the World.” • Barbara and Lou then played “Alabammy Bound” and “Won’t You Come Home, Bill Bailey,” with Lou adding vocals. • About this time Tom and Isaac conducted the auction. Proceeds of the raffle and auction benefit Youth Band members. • Janet, Irene, Barbara Duer, and Annette performed “Let There Be Peace On Earth.” Then, Janet soloed with a beautiful “Carol of the Bells.” • Treasurer Milo Shedeck announced that $460 had been raised for the children. • After the votes were tallied, it was announced that President Barbara Duer, Historian Karen West, Secretary Maggie Abel, and Treasurer Milo Shedeck would be carried over for the next year in their current offices.
