March 2016 Oklahoma Accordion Club Valentine's Day Meeting February 14, 2016 arbara Duer welcomed 18 members and a guest to the Club's Valentine's Day meeting. In March, the Club will meet on the third Sunday rather than the second Sunday because several members will still be returning from the National Accordion Association convention at the Dallas North Hyatt on the second Sunday. • At this meeting attendees were invited to play music by Frosini. Next month, Charles Magnante's music will be explored. • Barbara told us more of Frosini's history, that He played his father's big accordion at the age of eight, and that he arrived in the United States in 1905. • Frosini's "Autumn Breezes" was performed by Barbara, Past President Dick Albreski, Vice President Dan Orza, and Tulsa member Mary Hojem. • Barbara and Dick performed "Rag in D Minor" by Frosini, arranged by Gary Dahl, and Barbara re-arranged it! The two then presented Rossini's "Florette." • Past Vice President Tom Phillips and Dick played "Vive L'Amour." • Wayne Turgeon presented "Drink to Me Only With Thine Eyes," "Camptown Races," and "The Big Parade" from Palmer-Hughes. • Recent members Larry Gering and Tad Shadid received their membership badges. • Colleen Rettman played "Make Love to Me" and "Danny Boy." • "Fly Me To The Moon" was Karen West's presentation. • The Accordionaires (director Dan Orza, Lois Roth, Karen West, and Maggie Abel) and several Tulsa members played a series of love songs including "L-O-V-E," "Besame Mucho," "More," "Wonderful One," "You Belong To My Heart," and "Can't Help Falling In Love With You." • On the banjo, Barbara accompanied Dick on "Cruising Down the River," "National Accordion Swing" (which Dick wrote and gave to the NAA), "12th Street Rag," and "2016 NAA Polka Medley."
