January Meeting arbara Duer welcomed 20 Club members and two guests to the January 8, 2017, meeting. Visitors were Anne Lopez's mother, Cassi Radicelli, from Ohio, and new member Gabriel Kovacs' mother, Susan. • Member Jimmie Woolley announced that today was the birthday of Elvis Presley. • Barbara reminded the group to choose and practice their songs now to play in the August Club concert. • It is also time to register for the upcoming National Accordion Convention taking place the second weekend in March in Richardson, Texas. • The Oklahoma Accordion Band and the Club's Youth Band will play at the convention, both led by former Club ick Albreski. • Member Bob Mansfield played a French tune, "Lom de Poet," which he followed with "Chattanooga Choo Choo," accompanied by his vocals. • Dick led Lois Roth, Karen West, Toni Paulding, Maggie Abel, Barbara Duer, Gabriel Kovacs, and Beth Henson in the playing of "Marie," "Cielito Lindo," "I Love You Truly," and "Auld Lang Syne." • Karen played "Winter Wonderland" and "On the Road Again," after which Barbara played "Calliope Rag." • Dick played three of the Fun Band songs to be performed at the 2017 convention next month: "Polkatime in Texas," "Play a Simple Melody," and "Give Me My Heart Back" (a Yankovic tune). At the convention, additional songs to be played by the Fun Band are "Blue Skies Medley" and "Eviva España." • Crowd favorite Wayne Turgeon played "Liebestraum" and "Danube Waves" (aka, "Oh How We Danced"). As the second Sunday slot in March is taken up by the Texas convention, our local OAC March meeting will occur one week later than usual -- that is, on the third Sunday, March 19. • Club Secretary Maggie Abel Maggie Abel Advertisements
