Christmas treats and Christmas music were the order of the day! • TOP NEWS! Beginning in 2018, bring your accordion to every meeting because, starting in January, seasoned teachers such as Dick Albreski or Bob Mansfield will conduct a group lesson for attendees during each meeting. All levels of experience are welcome. • Club members cast their ballots for new Club officers for 2018. Nominees from last month’s meeting ran unopposed: aggie Abel, Vice-President Karen West, Secretary Anne Lopez, and Historian Beth Henson. Remaining in office for his second year is Treasurer Sil Lopez. • Attendees purchased tickets for donated raffle items displayed on several tables. • Dick directed the entire Youth Band in playing “This Is Our Song For You.” Solos were offered from Matthew Medley “Riding the Range;” Asher Elliott: “Drink To Me Only With Thine Eyes;” and Lazarus Elliott: “Beautiful Heaven.” Two firsttimers followed: Anna Rockwood performed “Czech Polka,” and Alex Rockwood played “The Big Parade.” The Band closed with “Apples, Peaches, Pumpkin Pie.” • The Christmas raffle was a success, orchestrated by Vice-President Tom Phillips, with assistance from Bob Mansfield. Many nice prizes went to happy ticket-holders! Proceeds go to assist youth members attending the National Accordion Association convention in March. • Bob Mansfield played a beautiful song for our Jewish friends. • Warming up for performing at the Woody Guthrie tribute show at the Blue Door later that night, T. Z. Wright played several Guthrie songs: “Little Bird,” and “Are You Washed in the Blood of the Lamb.” As members helped put things away after the Christmas party, all-time crowd favorite Lois Roth entertained worker bees with a medley of holiday music. • Secretary Maggie Abel Advertisements
