Page 4 June 2019 The Oklahoma Squeezins OAC Meeting May 12, 2019 Before the meeting, Bob Mansfield led the jam group in rehearsing “Colonel Bogey March.” aggie Abel called the meeting to order at 3:30. There were ten members present. •Maggie read aloud an e-mail from Wayne Turgeon. He is going to England for several months. •Karen West played her concert selection “Don’t It Make My Brown Eyes Blue.” Bob suggested that she and all players place their music stands to one side and just glance at the music as needed. This allows the audience to see the player(s). •The Trio (Barbara Duer, Karen West, and Lois Roth) performed “Tico-Tico,” “Chop Sticks,” and “William Tell.” Bob gave helpful suggestions about improving the songs. •Tom Philips played his concert piece, “When The Saints Go Marching In,” including a bass solo. •Maggie read the list of concert jobs, and asked for volunteers: 1. Front door greeter and tip jar caretaker: Billy Henson. 2. Setting up and taking down chairs: several volunteers. 3. Assist players getting on and off of stage: position still open. 4. Poster placement at Czech Hall: Beth and Billy Henson. 5. Gift card purchase: Barbara Duer. 6. Yukon posters: Karen and Maggie. 7. A parking attendant: We aren’t sure this job is necessary. It will be discussed further. 8. Internet ads: Maggie. 9. Edmond Library postings: Anne Lopez. •Karen will bring the concert posters to the June meeting. •The sound system is still uncertain. Tom has a large amp we can use. Various microphones are available, and people are needed to work with the mic set-up and placement on stage. We are open to ideas and volunteers. •Then we had more music. Bob performed several lovely pieces: an Oberek (composed for a four part group); “If You Love Me” (“L’Hymne a L’Amour”); “Sogno d’una Vergine;” and “All My Love.” •Toni Paulding played “Hot Points” by Frosini. She and Dick Albreski will perform it as a duet for the concert. A reminder to all members: Be sure to attend the June 9 meeting for music and fun with Nick Ballarini, and bring a guest with you! • Respectfully submitted, Lois Roth, Acting Secretary May Meeting Lois Roth Advertisement
