October 2020 The Oklahoma Squeezins Oklahoma Accordion Club Meeting Minutes September 13, 2020 The September 13, 2020 meeting of the OAC was called to order at 3:35 p m. aggie Abel presided. This was our first "hybrid meeting," combining a group in the multi-purpose room of the church and a group joining the meeting on Zoom. Maggie Abel brought and set up the Zoom equipment. Nine members and seven guests were present in the room. Six members and two guests were present on Zoom. •Wayne Turgeon brought four guests to the meeting. He began the music with three songs: "Sweet Betsy From Pike," "My Wild Irish Rose," and "Kentucky Rain." •Dick Albreski entertained us with some French tunes: "Corrine," "Il Mio Primo," and "Amour." •Karen West played "Stormy Weather." She described it as a good old Oklahoma song. •Anne Lopez performed for us on Zoom. Her songs were in honor of GermanFest: "Wooden Heart," "Hoffbrauhaus," and "Liechtensteiner Polka." •Barbara Mahar had a few trivia questions for us. Example: What performer made "Wooden Heart" popular? Answer: Elvis Presley. •Guest Kris Anderson told how she found the OAC. She said Karen and Maggie came into her restaurant for lunch and talked about it. Kris was interested because she has an accordion, and played accordion when she was younger, so she and her husband Buck came to the meeting. •Music continued with Dick playing "Once in a While," "Dream," Fascination," and "Around the World in Eighty Days." •Karen and Lois Roth concluded the program with "The Happy Wanderer," "Edelweiss," and "Just Because." To end the meeting, Maggie interviewed the members, asking each one how he or she started playing accordion. We heard some great stories! The meeting was adjourned at 4:45 pm. Respectfully Submitted, Lois Roth, OAC Secretary Advertisements September Hybrid Meeting
