June 13, 2021 The June OAC meeting was held on Sunday the 13th. Fourteen people attended -- nine members and two guests in person; and three members on Zoom. aggie Abel called the meeting to order at 3:30 pm. We stood and recited The Pledge of Allegiance. •Maggie paid tribute to our dear friend and club member Barbara Duer, who passed away last week. •There was a memorial service for Barbara on June 12 in the church chapel. Many OAC members were there. Barbara touched us all with her love of the club and her willingness to take on any task. We will sorely miss her leadership and her musical talents. •Our program began with Dick Albreski performing on Zoom. •First a medley: "Fascination," "I Left My Heart in San Francisco," and L-O-V-E." Then he played "Poinciana" with a rumba beat. When we asked for more, he gave us a medley of love songs: "I'm In the Mood for Love," "I Don't Know Why I Love You Like I Do," and "Once in a While." •T.Z. Wright was the next Zoom performer. He played and sang "Walk in the Irish Rain, "Saint Ann's Reel," and "Whiskey for Breakfast." •Maggie told us that Janet Haskins has moved to Stillwater. •Then we had music from members in the room. Anne Lopez and Lois Roth played "La Vie en Rose." Anne continued the French theme with a solo: "Under Paris Skies." Then Lois joined her again for a counterpoint style duet: "Play a Simple Melody." •Karen West and Lois performed "I Want a Girl," "You're a Grand Old Flag" (for Flag Day), and "The Caissons Go Rolling Along." Karen soloed with "Hey Daddy." •Dick concluded the music with a Blues and Jazz piece; then a waltz "I Love to Dance" (his own composition) and a favorite polka "Just Because" with vocal. •Dick plans to be at the next meeting, along with Laz Elliott, to perform for us. •Barbara Duer donated a large amount of music to the club. It was on display on three tables. Members were invited to take what they wanted, and leave a donation if they desired. The remaining music will be available at the July meeting. •Ron Shearon suggested that we form a quartet or other size group for future fun. •Maggie reminded us that we are in need of a club Historian. Volunteers are welcome! Meeting was adjourned. The next meeting will be Sunday, July 11, at the usual time. Join us for music, refreshments, and Fun!
