September 12, 2021 The Oklahoma Accordion Club met on Sunday, September 12, 2021. It was a hybrid meeting, with attendees both in-person and on Zoom. Eight members and one guest attended in person. Seven members and two guests attended on Zoom. Total attendance was eighteen. aggie Abel called the meeting to order at 3:30 pm. •Dick Albreski told us that The Bohemian Knights had recently played for an Oktoberfest party. •Dick began the music with samples of songs from various countries, ending with the "Chicken Dance," which he said was for our Club. Then he played two polkas - "Pennsylvania" and "Clarinet" - and "Dark Eyes." •Laz Elliott, our talented youth player, performed "Hungarian Dance #5" and "Bel Viso." •Next, we enjoyed two musicians on Zoom. Lou Le Brun entertained us with "Operatic Rag" by Frosini, and "Ay Ay Ay." She ended with "I Don't Look Good Naked Any More," complete with the amusing lyrics. •Dick introduced a guest on-line, Dr. Ian Fries, who performed a French waltz, "Love and More Love," and "Don't Cry On My Shoulder." •Maggie complimented Frank Gesinski on the recent issue of our newsletter. Frank told us that his old band, The Polkatimers, was playing at Fassler Hall this afternoon. •On with the music! Maggie and Dick played a duet: "Polish Polka Medley." •Ron Shearon and Dick played "This Is My Song For You" - composed by Dick. •Maggie announced that Tom Phillips was the member who had driven the farthest to attend today's meeting. •Karen West performed "My Little Girl." She said it's a Jewish song that sounds German. •Karen, Dick, and Maggie played the two Fun Band songs that were available to all players on-line. First was "Beer Barrel Polka," followed by "Yankovic Waltz Medley." •Dick concluded the music with a real German waltz: "Slovakia, You Are My Homeland," and a lively arrangement of "Tico Tico." •Ron told us that he has a sing-along book containing "Ida," "After the Ball," and many other old favorites. •Dick said that he is performing Saturday, September 18, at a brewery in Okarche. The meeting was adjourned at 4:40 pm. The OAC will meet again on Sunday, October 10. Join us if you can!
