Meeting · February 2022
Sunday, January 9, 2022
of the new year was held on Sunday, January 9, 2022. Location was the multipurpose room at Messiah Lutheran Church, OKC. The meeting was delayed because the room was locked, and we had to wait for someone to bring a key. aggie Abel called the meeting to order at 3:45 pm. Eleven members attended: seven in person and four on Zoom. • The music began with the Play Along Band rehearsing three NAA Convention pieces: "The Best Things in Life Are Free" "Dear Hearts and Gentle People," and "Tzena, Tzena" Accordionists were Karen West, Maggie Abel, Lois Wyrick, and Lois Roth. • Lois Wyrick has been taking lessons from Dick Albreski for only a few months. She also plays piano and French horn, and belongs to a clog dancing group. • Karen West and Lois Roth performed "May You Always". Karen read the lyrics to us, and we agreed that it's a great song for the new year. • They followed with the traditional "Auld Lang Syne." • Maggie reminded us that Dick and The Bohemian Knights are playing at Royal Bavaria every Friday and Saturday night in January. • Lois R. entertained the group by playing some old-time favorites, including requests from the audience. Songs included "Moonlight Bay," "Tennessee Waltz," "You Are My Sunshine," and "Beer Barrel Polka." The meeting concluded with Ron Shearon leading us in "The Pledge of Allegiance." We adjourned at 4:40 pm. Our next meeting will be Sunday, February 13, at 3:30 pm. Dig out a Valentine love song - or any other song - and join us for an hour or two of music and fun!
