February 12, 2023 The Oklahoma Accordion Club held its Valentine meeting on Sunday, February 12, 2023, at the Messiah Lutheran Church of OKC. Twelve people attended: Eight members and three guests "in person," and one member on Zoom. aggie Abel called the meeting to order at 3:40 pm, and welcomed everyone. · John Warren, a guest at the January meeting, has become a member. Welcome, John! He will play his accordion at the OKC Daily Living Center on February 14. · Ron Shearon led us in reciting "The Pledge of Allegiance." · Ron said he has recorded his beginner songs and put them on a search engine. · Maggie reminded us that the National Accordion Convention is next month. · She introduced a guest: Carol Dockins, Ron's sister. · Maggie told us that she and Frank Boyd went to Royal Bavaria last weekend and enjoyed German music played by The Bohemian Knights. The Royal Bavarian Restaurant has been in business for 39 years. · Our music began with Lou Le Brun joining us on Zoom. She performed a tango: "Jalousie," "Penthouse Serenade," "Guess Things Happen That Way," and "'Til There Was You" from The Music Man. · Lou told us a little about life at The Gardens. She hasn't been feeling well lately, and she has given up driving. She plays her accordion in the lobby twice a month, and the residents really enjoy it. · As John would soon need to leave the meeting early, a jam session came up next. Anne Lopez and Lois Roth joined him for "By The Sea," "La Vie en Rose," "Harbor Lights," and many other songs, including several polkas. · Then it was Singalong Time. Anne and Lois played as we sang "America The Beautiful" in honor of Presidents' Day. Valentine songs followed --- "Let Me Call You Sweetheart," "The Gang That Sang Heart of My Heart," and "Tell Me Why." · The program continued with Anne and Lois performing "Only You," "Somewhere My Love," and "You Made Me Love You." · Ron played two songs on his 12-bass accordion: "Drink To Me Only With Thine Eyes" and "Arkansas Traveler." · Karen West concluded the music by performing "Without Love." She said this song was made popular by Elvis Presley, Tom Jones, and Ray Charles. · Karen is learning "Orange Colored Sky," and said she will play it at a future meeting. The meeting was adjourned at 5:20 pm. Join us on Sunday, March 12, at (or before) 3:30 pm for a bit of Irish music, and a lot of fun!

Respectfully submitted, Lois Roth, OAC Secretary
