About

About the club

The Oklahoma Accordion Club is a volunteer group of accordion players and friends who have gathered in the Oklahoma City area since 2000. Whether you perform, are picking up the instrument again, or simply enjoy listening, you are welcome at our monthly meetups.

On the Second Sunday of each month we meet at Messiah Lutheran Church for themed programs, member performances, sing-alongs, snacks, and informal jamming afterward. Some meetings draw a crowd of players; others are a chance to hear a few polished sets and visit with people who share the same slightly unusual hobby.

We stay in touch between Sundays through The Oklahoma Squeezins, the club's online newsletter—“Our Squeezin' is Pleasin'!” Board messages, meeting minutes, birthdays, and festival dates from the newsletter are posted in News and Calendar as each issue goes out. Browse the newsletter archive for past issues.

Maggie Abel · July 2026

Sadly, we received word that longtime Oklahoma Accordion Club member Cassi, mother of Anne Lopez, has passed on. Casimina H. Radicelli (née Contorno), affectionately known as "Cassi," went to be with the Lord on June 8, 2026, at the age of 101. Born in 1925, Cassi lived a life marked by faith, devotion to family, kindness, and unwavering love for those around her. A devoted Catholic, she lived her faith through her actions, always placing family, compassion, and service to others at the center of her life. Cassi was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Radicelli, who passed away in June 2012. She graduated from John Hay High School in Cleveland in 1943 and was immediately hired by the White Motor Company as a secretary. Family and friends often joked that you could eat off her kitchen floor. Known for her bright smile, contagious laughter, and genuine warmth, Cassi made everyone feel welcome. More than anything, Cassi loved her family. Her legacy is one of faith, love, kindness, laughter, and quiet devotion.

THIS MEANT a LOT! Recently I played for a retirement center. A lady came up to me after I completed my performance and said, "I am 81 years old, and I never liked the accordion until today!" What a tremendous compliment!

Festival dates from Dick's notes also appear in All our events above.
